Final Score: PSV Eindhoven 0 Liverpool 3

(From left to right: Steven Gerarrd, John Arne Riise and Peter Crouch)

The match is finally over. Liverpool put in an absolutely professional performance, dispatching the home side PSV clinically with razor-sharp finishing. Gerrard scored with a powerful header from the penalty spot on 27 minutes, off a cross from Steve Finnan after he was released down the right hand side by a wonderful pass from Javier Mascherano.

Right from the half-time restart, Liverpool grabbed the impetus and carried forward their first half momentum. In the 49th minute, John Arne Riise released one of his trademark thunderbolt of a shot from his famed left foot and gave PSV Keeper Gomes no chance to get to the ball as it swerved pass him. Peter Crouch ended the contest and possibly the whole tie before the second leg had even started by planting a 63rd minute header into the back of the net after he was found by yet another fine cross from Finnan from the right.

Here's the match highlights

I'm bushed and its time for me to hit the sack now with a wide grin on my face perhaps. Sweet dreams are made of these.....
